Cosmic Communist Constructions by Frederic Chaubin has just arrived and student architect / staffer Issabella couldn't be happier. Capturing incredible and awe inspiring buildings from the last decades of the USSR. In our opinion, a good book should always make you feel like you've been transported to another world, and for this one, you'll need a fur jacket, a shot of vodka and the time to let your imagination run wild.

The second delivery of the Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Resort range just delivered and we couldnt say it better than style.com's Matthew Schneler.

'Leather and lace are old pals. But leather that's lace? There's a naughty new friend. It figured prominently in Chloë Sevigny's latest collection for Opening Ceremony, which she showed for the first time ever in a runway presentation that attracted pals Ryan McGinley and Proenza Schouler's Jack and Lazaro, plus many dozens more in the standing section. "Teen dream," she said of the spectacle after the show. No, make that "sexy teen dream."

Some dream of angels; some dream of devils. Sevigny provided both. Her flouncy minidresses were mostly variations on the white cotton eyelet frocks that pure-of-heart maidens might wear. Some were in white cotton; some in black leather. "It's the good and the bad, the light and the dark," Sevigny explained. "If you want to wear this in white, you can have your angelic moment. And if you want to go dark…" She herself was wearing the black leather, which perhaps suggests where she falls on that particular ecclesiastical divide. For us, the shapes, the silhouettes, the textures and the colours triggered that compulsion to reinvent your entire wardrobe- that feeling is rare and is just cause for the celebration of the first summer delivery. The first time Venessa Arizaga's jewelery landed in store, we barely had time to tell you before it was gone. This time around, we thought it would be better to give you some notice. Coming back soon, Venessa's collection aptly named 'Psychadelic Beauty' was an instant hit with you because it struck a chord. The colours were right, the mixture of hardware with traditional crafted techniquesand trinkets that have been scoured from all over the world made it really feel like something unique and special. An explosion of color, pattern and luxurious texture on the shelves of Tuchuzy this weekend.

Missoni was invented in 1953 in the basement of Rosita & Ottavio Missoni's house in Sumirago, a little town near Milan. The signature colored stripe that characterized Missoni in the early days is still present, adding a touch of tradition into all of their creations. Missoni has traveled all the way into our neck of the woods to Bondi. We just received an awesome array of beachwear from the chic label, that will keep you cool by the pool.

What was your inspiration for your current range Pale Ryder?
I was interested in the concepts of fate and destiny and how we perceive it in our lives.
Pale Ryder is inspired by these ideas, the 70's Bohemian life style, the mind set of that decade.

You and your partner Ben Briand (film-maker) collaborate together with short-film and imagery for all of your ranges so far. How does this process work ?
I am very lucky to be able to work with Ben on so many creative projects. It all happens quite organically. I love the way we are on the same page, yet each has quite a different approach. Also the fact we can be very open and honest, i think it enables us to get the best from each other.

Whats your favorite piece from the collection ?
It's hard to pick, but i love the scarves for the versatility. Especially in summer. Going to the beach you can use as a top, turban, protection from the sun and even as something to lie on when you don't want to carry a bulky towel. The tie dye beach bags are definitely an essential, I'll be carrying one in color.

What can we expect from Benah in the future?
Lots of exciting things! We have the launch of the Pale Ryder film in collaboration with the band The Preachers, plus a few more collaborations. Benah has just started stocking in LA, NYC and Japan so I'm looking forward to expanding the range and developing more categories in the coming seasons.

The Evolution of a Bassike T-Shirt

A corner stone of every staff member and regular customer's wardrobe at tuchuzy is the iconic scoop v tee by Bassike. We all know why we love them but we've never really articulated it or given them the limelight they deserve on this blog.
Cue the creatives at Bassike and the irresistible life line of the bassike tee below. Its a lengthy read but worth the insight. So now every time you look at yours in your wardrobe, or considering adding a new colour, know that the process is not so basic and lots of time and love is poured into making it just so perfect.

The bassike T’shirt is developed and made exclusively in Australia using Organic cotton fibres. The organic yarn is then knitted into several different types of fabrics exclusively for bassike. At this early stage the fabrics are in a form known as greige. In greige form the fabrics are an off white or ecru colour because of the wax and lubricants that are added to the yarn for the purpose of reducing friction and avoiding breakage during the knitting process.

bassike is known especially for its superfine Jersey. Once knitted into the “greige form” it then travels back to the spinner and dyer for processing. Processing begins with:
Scouring. Here the wax and lubricants are cleaned from the greige and for fabrics that will be finished as white the greige is bleached. For coloured garments the greige goes through a dying process know as “piece dying”. Over dying is more cost effective but does not produce the same optical impact and even colour distribution as the piece dying process.
The now dyed fabric rolls travel through the “Stentering machine”. This “sets“ the fabric by heating and straightening the grain . bassike fabrics are stentered in their unique way which creates the signature “twisted outseam” on our T’Shirts! This twist gives our T’shirts their very special three-dimensional feel.
Once approved the fabric is then tested for:
· Dimensional stability or shrinkage. · Fabric weight vs specification · Colour fasteners for water, household detergents and light. · Tearing Strength (using weights)

The Fabric is laid out onto cutting tables and rested for 24 hours which allows the fabric to relax back to it’s original state known as the “reference state”. This reduces shrinkage once the garment is complete.

The different pieces are bundled up and then separated into their sizes ready for sewing.
The sewing process is split across approximately 15 different sewing stations which includes sewing each panel of the garment, over locking and back lashing which re-enforces the side seam against fraying at the base of our signature “raw hem”. The bassike chain stitch across the back neck is also added and finally brand, wash care and size labels are attached.

The assembled T Shirt travels to the garment laundry where again it is treated in the unique bassike way. Once dry the garment travels back to the makers for sorting. Finally each T Shirt is trimmed for loose threads, inspected by our quality control officer, folded, swing tagged and then packed for delivery to our warehouse!!!

This process takes up to fourteen weeks and is managed in house by the small and dynamic team at bassike in partnership with a very select group of factories in Australia.

Our two favourite Helmuts arrived in store just in the nick of time for our store opening. Helmut Lang and a selection of Helmut Newton books by naughty German publishers Taschen. Any excuse to post Helmut Newton images on our blog is good enough for us and actually selling them in store makes it our duty really. Our two picks for the moment are 'Gun for Hire' and 'Sumo', a limitied edition reprint which comes with its own acrylic stand. By summer, our bookshelves will hopefully look like the below. The fact that the 'Making of video' we attached is in German, makes it all the more intriguing with a splash of hardcore.
On to our other Helmut, the pre fall collection is full of wardrobe staples in new shapes and colours to instantly update your winter wardrobe. For all you die hards out there we have perfectly cut leather jackets (that would look right at home in a Helmut Newton shoot) and of course, the new seasons knitwear along with their basic with a twist layering tees, tanks and dresses.

The much talked about Bec & Bridge x Akubra collaboration was an exciting addition to a stunning range. Maniamania delivered another seasons collection of lust worthy statement pieces. Arnsdorf's modern wearability and colour palette was exactly how we want our summer to be. Friend of Mine delivered a vision true to their roots and ours.
